lola's stocking

I finished it in time, woo-hoo!!  There are some wonky parts, it's smaller and the shape is a little different (always forget stupid seam allowances), but in the end...just as quirky as the rest of them!  My mom finished putting it together- the back and lining, etc.  Thanks Mom!

What do you think of the Orla Kiely pattern!  Doesn't Max's look crazy big now?

Sneaky little elf...

simple wreath

Things have been super crazy around here.  I can't believe there are only five days until Christmas!  I can't wait to show you some of the things I've been working on!  But some are presents- obvs- and I don't want the recipients to see.  Others I haven't finished!  I get so scatterbrained sometimes.  Instead of working on one thing until it's done I work on five and it takes a while.

Anyhoo- this is one simple thing.  My wreath.  You may look and think it's skinny, maybe a bit bare, but I love it!  It's just a big embroidery hoop with some branches stapled to it.  I think it looks Scandinavian.

baby doll

I'm so happy to have a girl to make girly stuff for!  Ahhh!  I got a blank muslin doll form from a thrift store for $1 and am finally putting it to use for Lola's Christmas present.  I LOVE the Jess Brown dolls.  They are a little pricey, so I used the idea for Lola's doll.

I used a sweater for the hair and mouth.  I was having so much fun making the dresses!  They aren't as good as Jess's, but I will work on it and build a wardrobe.

And added a little hair accessory...

Hippie chick...

Likes it!  (I'm still going to wrap it and give it to her for Christmas)

Uh oh, someone else wanted in on the action.  He likes to be the doctor and help the sick baby.  He is now going to get his own for Christmas, I ordered another blank doll from Etsy.

bread and other things

This post is about food, potty training and magic.  Random?

I have written about four food posts in the past, but then end up deleted them instead of publishing.  Since Max was born, and I stopped working, I have made an effort to cook meals.  Not put things in the oven or just heat them up...but chop the onions, make the rue, buy organic ingredients, and even use as much from our own garden small as it is.  I am proud of myself.  And because I'm proud I want to share my accomplishments.

But once it's all in print I get so self conscious.  I think- there are so many people out there who do this every day- and do it better than me.  So I end up deleted the post and replacing it with something I made, or pictures of the kids.

So, for now, I'll stick to once in a while posting the simple baked goods I make in the mornings.  Baking is more fun for me anyways and Max can help.

We made bread.  I made some different kinds of bread for Thanksgiving and it's so yummy.  And cheap.  And easy!  Just a takes a little time since you have to keep letting it rise.

Oh, also, we are potty training.  Max is over three and it's way overdue.  It's definitely a work in progress, but we have a lot of underwear time.

We went to see a magician recently and now Max likes to do his own magic tricks.

And now I will pull a monkey from this basket!
