more teepee action

I made another teepee, this time for my niece's birthday present.  I used the same tutorial as last time and found this great vintage Marimekko twin sheet on Etsy.

Max was a little jealous, even though his teepee is just 10 steps away.

thanksgiving!

We had Thanksgiving at our house this year.  It was a lot of fun!  And also a lot of work.  Of course I didn't study recipes to prepare, I made napkins!  I used some vintage fabric I found on Etsy.  They are fairly straightforward, but making twelve of anything takes time.  I am proud to say I mastered the mitered corners!

year book

We have so many pictures of Max.  Every time we go somewhere it's a photo worthy event.  But I never make prints...where would I put them all?  Every once in a while I would go through our folders of pictures on the computer and think, "I wish I could look through these more often".  Also, my husband is an excellent photographer.  So I decided to make year books for Max.  This way I could choose all the best pictures from each year of his life and document them.  We would always have them in print.  And Blurb books are just beautiful.

Max is two, so I'm still a year behind, but I was able to finish year one in time for his birthday.  We looked through it together, and then again, and again, etc.  He loved looking though all the pictures of himself and his family.

a spy rainbow birthday party

Looking on Pinterest, there are so many cute birthday party themes.  I couldn't really choose, so Max's party turned into a strange combination of rainbow and spy.  Oh well, he doesn't care.  You already saw the spy invitations.

Rainbow theme: I made some accordion streamers inspired by this.

Rainbow theme 2: The fun thing about having a really small party is being able to make handmade party favors.  I took all the old crayon nubs we've had saved and made these cool crayon nibbles.  You can really just put them in the oven!  Directions here.

Rainbow theme 3: I got these cute old fashioned milk glasses and the kids got to pick their color straw.

Aren't kids drinking from straws too cute??

Yum!

Weird spy theme interruption:  I saw this cute layout for a scavenger hunt on Martha Stewart.  I changed around most of the items since I was playing to a very young audience.  It looks really cute, but I mistakenly waited until after opening gifts and the little's were much too preoccupied.  Luckily my sweet 4 year old nephew played along.

Rainbow theme 4: I made the infamous rainbow cake!

Maybe it doesn't look as professional as the source, but pretty good I think!  Max liked it!

Happy weird spy rainbow 2nd birthday party Max!
